Well, I got another gem in. recruited this girl, who is able to do a lot of things, all at the same time and yet manage her time and efforts.

Thank god for people with intelligence!

Good days are coming

Blogged in Life by Uty Wednesday May 24, 2006

The world revolves on hope. Things are slowly looking up for me here in Shanghai. Good customer visits, some people with intelligence and problem solving ability. Its essential for running an office.
Hope more good times happen soon.

Another crazy day

Blogged in Life by Uty Sunday May 21, 2006

Had another crazy day in the office. Last minute hiccups, creating absolute chaos. Thankfully, a new pair of hands is here to help me. Some of the work can now be offloaded.

The big org change is tomorrow. Quite eager to see whats gonna happen there

Finally, a day of rest

Blogged in Life by Uty Saturday May 20, 2006

Finally, an off day. I must say, I have never been so busy doing nothing. It feels great to just sit around, watching a movie and waiting for my stuff to arrive from Hangzhou.
In another few days, I am sure that things will begin to change, my role will be clear and I will have a better perspective of things.
This Orkut is driving me crazy. Somehow, I can never understand the over excited curiosity of fresh graduates. Maybe comes from the abject apathy evident in many of our public education facilities. Maybe someday, we can have a more clear path for our students. Maybe someday ….

The whole debate on reservations

Blogged in India by Uty Friday May 19, 2006

There is this hot topic going on now in India, reservations in private sector. While I am all for the upliftment of the underprivileged, I think we demean the progress that we have gained in all these years by connecting reservation to caste.

Casteist politics is the cheapest, most underhanded game that our politicians play. Why do they do that? well, for one reason only – the seat. By reservations for castes, we are automatically branding a large section of the Indian people as poor, under educated and we are insulting them by saying, “We know you cannot do anything by yourself. Here is a favor, lower standards for you than others.”

I am not a constitutional scholar, but doesn’t the preamble state that “EQUALITY of status and of opportunity”. By making one section of the population have special provisions, are we not violating this basic tenet of the constitution?

I am all for reservations, as long as it means that we will give special concessions to the poorer section of the society. Let’s give them the means to compete on a level field. Will anyone hear this?

The world on my fingertips

Finally settled in Shanghai. Even though I have yet to get all my stuff shipped from Hanghzo, this place still feels like home to me!

Bought the right kind of stuff, what I always wanted. Hopefully, in the next week, things will settle down well. Getting DTH tomorrow, YAY!

Moved to Shanghai

Blogged in Shanghai by Uty Wednesday May 17, 2006

After three long fruitful years in Hangzhou, i moved to Shanghai. One may ask why? On the other hand, most others will say “great choice”.

Anyways, Its just a question of personal preference. I got a great role here, something I can  do well and what can bring me a lot of kudos later. Well, life is good, work is OK and just some regrets, most of all leaving Hangzhou. It was a home away from home, after all.
